The fitness of piles for their purpose is often conventionally assessed from the results of loading tests; either to its 'ultimate' condition, or to some multiple of its working load.
Because of the prohibitive cost of load tests, few are carried out relative to the size of the pile population, and gross assumptions must be made about the group performance. Levels of confidence concerning factors of safety are often low or indeterminate, and can therefore lead to over-design.
Integrity Testing's methods allow rapid pile performance assessments at low cost. While they do not replace traditional load tests, they can reduce the number required to give confidence about the pile group performance. ITPL have considerable experience with pile integrity test methods; experience resulting from their extensive work done both locally and abroad.

ITPL is often commissioned to carry out structural examinations or to investigate the cause of material or structural failures. The majority of our investigatoins are initiated to determine the primary cause of distress to a structure, and remedial options once these causes are established. ITPL can provide a wide base of expertise on which the effective and economical design of investigation programs can be based.

There are a number of reasons why site investigations may be required. All these investigations have one feature in common; the need to obtain the maximum of reliable information at the minimum of cost. ITPL have experience in managing both conventional borehole site investigations and small-scale engineereing seismic surveys. they have provided foundation design fata for projects as diverse as housing estates to hydro-electric dam schemes.

The construction of major projects involves the bringing together and utilization of many different materials and products. On many projects, some of the most important materials are required in large volumes, and balances must be drawn between fitness of purposes and costs of transportation. ITPL have extensive experience of resource identification, quantification, assessment and extraction, as well as processing management for major projects throughout S.E. Asia and Australia.
